Parker’s Heritage Collection was named for the legendary Parker Beam. He was one of the Kentucky Master Distillers who brought bourbon back from the brink. Chris Briney sums up Parker the best:

“Parker Beam’s entire life was influenced by and dedicated to the making of good Bourbon. He did not seek out celebrity status but was chased down by it. And he always remained humble. He was known for saying “I don’t know about all those fancy taste descriptors… but I do know what I like. And that is good whiskey.”

More than many other limited releases each Parker’s Heritage release varies widely. You have rye whiskeys, wheat whiskeys, wheated bourbons, cask strength bourbons, premium aged bourbons, barrel finishes, and more. The late Parker Beam was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2010 and passed away after a 6 year battle with the disease. Heaven Hill continues to support the ALS Association with every release of Parker’s Heritage.

“Through Parker Beam’s leadership and influence, the history of Kentucky Bourbon and Heaven Hill’s American Whiskey heritage has an enduring foundation of quality, transparency, and passion,” said Susan Wahl, Group Product Director at Heaven Hill Distillery. “We are proud to continue offering the Parker’s Heritage Collection in his memory and continue to support ALS research and patient care efforts.”

This PHC had two vintages that are both pre-fire Heaven Hill bourbon distilled in the Fall of 1990 and the Spring of 1991 at Heaven Hill’s Bardstown facility (D.S.P. KY-31) that was destroyed by fire in 1996. At the time, PHC 10th Edition was the oldest Bottled in Bond released.

In 2013, Parker Beam, the Heaven Hill Master Distiller who the Heritage Collection was named for, announced that he had ALS. The Promise of Hope bottling helped raise awareness of ALS, and for every bottle sold, $20 went to ALS research.
