Michter’s King Tut Decanter was released alongside a three-year tour from 1976 to 1979 in the U.S. of artifacts from King Tut’s tomb. Little information is now available on the whiskey inside the decanter but Michter’s like many other distilleries tried to move excess whiskey during the uprising of clear spirits by packaging it in fancy decanters.

Nose Dive – 88
The Michter’s King Tut Decanter has that lovely dusty funk. It’s like a leather-bound book had a love child with whiskey. Plus I also get a hint of wet wood. It’s weird to describe these flavors to bourbon drinkers who’ve never had a dusty, but the flavors are enjoyable.
Taste – 93
The Michter’s King Tut Decanter has a creamy charred oak thread throughout. More of that dusty funk leather-bound book. Just a hint of white pepper. The taste was the star of the show for this dusty.
Finish – 91
The finish was medium with notes of wet leather and musty wood.
Verdict – Silver 90 out of 100 Points
This was an enjoyable drinking experience. Compared to other duties I’ve had it lacked some depth, but shoutout to Austin for sharing a sample. It was a great night with a lot of great bourbons. Cracking something like this was generous.
The Michter’s King Tut reviewed was provided by Austin Witthuhn. Thank you.
