Larceny bourbon was released in 2012 as the successor to the Old Fitzgerald brand which Heaven Hill controlled but had only released bottom shelf bourbon from. According to Heaven Hill, Larceny and Old Fitzgerald are made with 25% more wheat than “other” wheated bourbons.

Larceny borrows from the legend of the Old Fitzgerald brand. As legend has it, John E. Fitzgerald was a treasury agent with keys to the bourbon warehouses which he used to swipe the best bourbon from honey barrels. The brand Old Fitzgerald began in the early 1900s as a pot still whiskey until 1913. It continued to distill “medicinal” whiskey during prohibition and was later sold to the infamous Pappy Van Winkle and the Stitzel-Weller distillery. He bought the brand for $10,000 and added the “Whisper of Wheat” to the original Old Fitz recipe.

to steal premium barrels of bourbon and bottle them under his own brand Old Fitzgerald. Over the years the Old Fitz brand changed hands many hands and was once owned by Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle but now is owned by Heaven Hill, the maker of Larceny Bourbon. Old Fitzgerald was distilled at Stitzel-Weller until 1992 then moved production to Bernheim Distillery by Diageo (which they later sold — the Bernheim Distillery and the Old Fitz brand — to Heaven Hill.

The Bard Silver 300px

Larceny bourbon is light and refreshing with just enough oak and baking spice. Plus unlike other popular wheated bourbons, it’s readily available anytime you want to enjoy a pour.
