Southern Bourbon Whiskey is distilled by 13th Colony Distilleries in Americus, GA. This small craft distillery started with the idea of making moonshine for friends and family for Christmas one year. It grew into a unique, handcrafted southern bourbon whiskey at an affordable price. They also offer some great twists on classic cocktails recipes for their bourbon.

Southern Bourbon Whiskey in the Glass

Medium viscosity in the Glencairn whiskey glass. It’s a dark amber color.

Nose Dive – 86 Points

Candied pecans popped as the first smell. It’s got some youthful oak as well with subtle hints of vanilla and caramel. Enjoyable nose with some interesting notes and complexity.

Taste – 84 Points

The front of the palate has some tart Cherry notes that branches out into black pepper, oak, toasted pecans, and charred sugars down the side of the palate.

Finish – 82 Points

It’s a medium to short finish. It’s youthful oak with some tannins, reduced sugar, and sorghum.

Verdict – Silver 84 Points

The toasted pecans and oak were the unifying thread. It’s a solid drinker with interesting flavors, which are sometimes not as developed but still enjoyable. I’d love to revisit this with another 2 to 3 years sitting through those hot GA summers and cool winters.

Also, kudos for a great bottle design. Obviously, it brings to mind Birthday Bourbon. It’s such a unique bottle shape and, even if subconsciously, it adds perceived value in the drinker’s mind.

A craft bourbon whiskey worth supporting and drinking.
